AI Animation Experiment
Ganbreeder is an online collaborative tool. Its function is described as follows: Images are “bred”, when they have children, these children mix with other images and they can be shared over a URL.” The idea behind this tool is creating images by means of variating parameters. That is, a fist image (father) gets 3 derivates (children), which have been produced by variants.
The idea behind this experiment was to create a time-lapse video so we could see the variation process of the images created in Ganbreede. The problem was that big amount of images and high precision were needed to obtain the transitions among the variants, in this way we could obtain the most stable time-lapse. After a lot of online research, I discovered a tool developed in Python which could automate the entire process. Thus, I installed the tool. I do not really have any programming skills and installing tools from websites such as GitLab is a bit overwhelming for me.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally managed to install the tools properly. Now you only need to input the number of images you want and the tool generates the images and their variants. Finally, all of those images are imported to After Effects to generate a sequence and get the time-lapse.
