100% Orgánico
I was commissioned to develop the credits for Reserva Films’ newest sci-fi short film, 100% Orgánico. Its synopsis is the following: In a dystopian future where there are no more animals, humans have found the perfect alternative to survive: legalizing cannibalism. While he most exclusive elites have control of this new reality, a family becomes a prey of the status quo, social circles and false pretenses as a cruel destiny unfolds.
Since this story takes place in the future the credits had to be futuristic and modern.
Even if the story is set in a technologically advanced future, I realized that the credits should not be to stylistic or flashy because the story is more focused on the dramatic and social rather than on science fiction. So, instead of competing with the story, it had to match the images of the film.
I decided the opening credits had to be static but each letter would appear one by one as if it was some sort of coding. In the ending credits, since this producing studio is specialized in horror, I decided to enhance the concept making meat its main theme, since it is also an important part of the short film. Using Turbulent Noise, I built a setting that resembles entrails and by using particles I added a liquid and organic environment, which is highly influenced by Massive Attack’s Teardrop music video.
